Absentness refers to the state or condition of not being present at a place or event where one is expected or required to be. It encompasses physical absence, as well as a lack of mental or emotional engagement, even when physically present. This state can arise from a variety of causes, ranging from illness, scheduled appointments, and travel, to distraction, disinterest, or a detachment from one's surroundings and responsibilities.
