Activatable
Capable of being activated, or rendered active. This typically implies a dormant or inactive state prior to activation. The term is often used in contexts involving technological processes, biological systems, or financial instruments, where a trigger, stimulus, or event causes a transition from an inert to a functional or operational state. The activation can be achieved through a variety of means, including chemical reactions, electrical signals, physical manipulation, or predefined conditions. It is often associated with conditional states or processes, with their state change occurring only under specified criteria.
Activatable meaning with examples
- The new software features are activatable through a specific code entry, providing enhanced security. Users need to input the provided key to make those functions available. After the key is used, it immediately modifies the interface. Before this the features are hidden. This is a common security feature and is included in many programs.
- Certain proteins within the cell membrane are activatable by the binding of a specific hormone or signaling molecule. It is common practice to use a ligand and receptor system. Binding provides the signals, initiating cascade effects throughout the body. This process can cause cells to function. This happens throughout our lives.
- The insurance policy becomes activatable upon the occurrence of a specified event, such as damage to property. This policy requires a payment. This is also triggered by the payment being received, and this is a simple example. The insurance company is also activatable upon the event. Then a payment is triggered.
- The self-destruct sequence on the device is activatable via a physical switch, designed for emergencies. This device contains a switch, this is a trigger. This trigger creates the change and that function then executes. Most security systems use an activatable function. And that is a good idea.
