An adversary is an opponent or enemy. They are a person, group, or force that actively opposes or attacks another. This opposition can be physical, in the form of conflict, or metaphorical, representing disagreement, competition, or a struggle against something. The term implies a sense of rivalry or antagonism. It suggests a relationship where at least one party is attempting to prevent the other from achieving their goals or desires. The intensity and nature of the antagonism can vary, ranging from a friendly competitor to a sworn enemy.
