Aporia

An aporia (from the Greek ἀπορία, meaning 'impassable path,' or 'difficulty in proceeding') is a point of real or apparent contradiction within a philosophical argument, literary text, or other form of discourse. It signifies a puzzling paradox, an irresolvable internal conflict, or a logical impasse that challenges the reader or listener's understanding. It highlights the limits of thought, language, or reasoning, often leaving the subject in a state of intellectual bewilderment or uncertainty.
