Cd

A compact disc (CD) is a digital optical disc data storage format, developed in 1979 by Philips and Sony, and released in 1982. CDs primarily store audio recordings, but can also store digital data. They are made of polycarbonate plastic and are read by a laser beam that interprets the pits and lands on the disc surface as binary data. They were a popular medium for music and data storage before the rise of digital downloads and flash memory.
