CFC

CFC stands for Chlorofluorocarbon. It refers to any of a class of organic compounds that contain carbon, chlorine, and fluorine, produced as volatile derivatives of methane, ethane, and propane. CFCs are primarily used as refrigerants, propellants in aerosol sprays, and solvents. However, their use has been largely phased out due to their significant contribution to the depletion of the ozone layer, a critical atmospheric component protecting life on Earth from harmful ultraviolet radiation.
