Chipping is the act of removing small pieces or fragments from a larger solid material, typically through a forceful impact or gradual wearing. This process can apply to various substances, including stone, wood, paint, and ceramics. It often results in an uneven surface and can be either intentional, as in sculpting, or unintentional, caused by damage or deterioration. The term can also describe a short golf shot, where the ball travels a low distance through the air and then rolls on the ground.
