A cinematographer, also known as a director of photography (DP), is the chief over the camera and lighting crews working on a film, television show, music video or other live action piece and is responsible for making artistic and technical decisions related to the image. These responsibilities include selecting the camera, lenses, film stock or digital sensors, and camera angles and movements, as well as determining the lighting style and techniques, and overseeing all related aspects such as film processing, editing, and visual effects.
