Cloud

A visible mass of condensed water vapor floating in the atmosphere, typically high above the ground. Clouds are formed when moist air rises and cools, causing water vapor to condense into tiny droplets or ice crystals. Beyond the meteorological context, 'cloud' can also describe a state of obscurity, a mass or multitude, or the metaphorical concept of cloud computing, referring to the remote storage and access of data over the internet.

Cloud meaning with examples

• The puffy, white cloud drifted lazily across the vast expanse of blue sky, hinting at the potential for rain later in the day. It was a perfect example of a fair-weather cloud, promising nothing more than a beautiful view and perhaps a bit of shade. As a child I would lay in the grass and watch the clouds change shape.

• A cloud of bees swarmed around the blooming flowers in the garden, creating a buzzing spectacle of nature. The insects were happy and excited to be in a space abundant in nectar, and everyone else seemed to enjoy the spectacle.
