The plural of dispensation refers to the act of distributing or providing something, especially privileges, rules, or benefits, to a select group, often modifying established norms. It can also indicate the release or exemption from a rule or obligation, or a particular system or order of things. It highlights authorized leniency, special allowances, or exceptions. The word often implies a grant of privilege or an official permission to do something that is otherwise forbidden or required. The implication is often related to some sort of religious or governmental system.
