Egocentric

Egocentricity describes a personality trait characterized by excessive self-centeredness and a preoccupation with one's own needs, desires, and perspectives. An Egocentric individual has difficulty understanding or appreciating viewpoints different from their own and often believes their experiences are universally shared or more important than others'. This behavior manifests as a limited capacity for empathy, a tendency to monopolize conversations, and an inflated sense of self-importance. While some degree of self-focus is normal, especially in early childhood development, persistent and pervasive egocentricity can hinder interpersonal relationships and social interaction. It's not necessarily indicative of malice, but rather a deficit in the ability to consider another person's subjective experience.
