External-powered
Describing a device or system that derives its energy from a power source located outside itself. This contrasts with self-powered or internal-powered systems, which have their energy source contained within. external-powered devices rely on an external connection, such as a wall outlet, battery pack, or dedicated power supply, to function. This arrangement can provide continuous and often higher power, enabling sustained operation, but it also introduces limitations in terms of portability and reliance on an external infrastructure.

- My laptop is external-powered, needing to be plugged into a wall outlet to operate. This limits my mobility somewhat, but ensures I have enough energy for my workday. The continuous power prevents the frustrating experience of a laptop abruptly shutting down due to a depleted internal battery while working on an important project.
