Fender

A fender is a part of a vehicle, typically a car or a motorcycle, that frames the wheel well. Its primary purpose is to protect the vehicle's body from impacts, especially those caused by road debris like rocks, mud, and water that are thrown up by the tires. Fenders also contribute to the vehicle's aerodynamic profile and aesthetic appearance. Historically, the term also refers to a cushion or bumper on a boat or ship, or a protective barrier used in fireplaces.
