A fidgeter is an individual who exhibits restless behavior, typically characterized by repetitive, small movements. This can manifest as tapping fingers, jiggling legs, or constantly adjusting posture. The underlying cause of fidgeting can vary, ranging from anxiety, boredom, excitement, or underlying medical conditions like ADHD. Often, fidgeting serves as a coping mechanism to manage heightened levels of energy or to enhance focus. While generally harmless, excessive fidgeting can be disruptive in social settings or affect productivity. The intensity of fidgeting also varies from person to person, and its severity can impact the overall perception of a person.

• During the long lecture, the student was a notorious fidgeter, constantly drumming their fingers on the desk and shifting in their chair. This behavior, though distracting, helped them stay somewhat alert throughout the lengthy information delivery. The professor acknowledged it to them and they found their movements assisted them to absorb the subject matter.
• The young child, a dedicated fidgeter, struggled to sit still during the family dinner. They incessantly wiggled, twisted their body, and toyed with their utensils, much to their parent's gentle admonishments. Despite attempts to redirect their attention, the impulse to move was quite strong, causing the other family members some slight disturbance.
