Gelada

The gelada (Theropithecus gelada), also known as the gelada baboon or bleeding-heart monkey, is a large, terrestrial Old World monkey found only in the highlands of Ethiopia and Eritrea. They are easily recognizable by their thick, shaggy brown coats, and, most notably, the bright, hourglass-shaped patch of red skin on the chest of adult males. This patch becomes particularly vibrant during the breeding season. Geladas are highly social primates, living in complex multi-level societies. Their diet primarily consists of grasses, making them one of the few primates that are predominantly graminivorous (grass-eating).
