Graupeln

Graupel (German for 'groats') is a form of precipitation that consists of soft, small pellets of ice. It's formed when supercooled water droplets freeze onto falling snowflakes, resulting in a snow crystal with a rounded, often white appearance. Unlike hail, graupel is typically less dense and easily crumbles. It often occurs during winter storms, appearing as small, opaque ice balls, and can also be referred to as 'snow pellets,' 'soft hail,' or 'pellet snow'.
