Greasiness refers to the quality or state of being covered with, resembling, or having the characteristics of grease. This typically involves a slippery, oily, or fatty texture and often, though not always, implies an unctuous residue. The degree of greasiness can vary significantly, ranging from a subtle sheen to a thick, palpable coating. The term can be used literally to describe the physical properties of substances or surfaces, or figuratively to characterize the undesirable qualities of food, performance, or a person's character. It evokes a sensory experience – the feeling of oil on skin, the slick surface of a greasy pan, or the unappealing texture of overcooked food.
