Describing land, especially hillsides or slopes, that has been deeply eroded by the action of running water, forming channels or ravines known as gullies. The process leading to a gullied landscape is often caused by heavy rainfall, inadequate vegetation cover, and improper land management. The term implies significant erosion, where the soil has been carved away, leaving noticeable depressions and trenches. This can lead to instability and further erosion of the landscape. The degree of gullied depends on factors like the type of soil, climate, and the steepness of the terrain. It is a common feature in regions with periods of intense precipitation following dry spells.
