Half

A fraction representing one of two equal parts of a whole. It can also signify an incomplete or partial state of something, a portion of a duration or amount, or a member of a pair. Furthermore, 'half' can be used to describe partial knowledge, understanding or degree of involvement. This versatile word encompasses both the division of objects and concepts and is core to many aspects of the human experience; from time, size, and quantity to understanding and emotional states.

• I only ate Half the pizza, saving the rest for later. The delivery driver arrived and the box was opened to a hot meal, it was going to be a good night! However, the delicious meal left me with a conundrum, what to have for lunch tomorrow if I had only eaten Half the pizza and wanted to enjoy it again?
• The marathon runner completed Half of the race before feeling exhausted. The cheering crowd was so much inspiration! Despite the exhaustion, the desire to cross the finish line, kept the runner going. He made it through the race with great determination, and the crowd cheered him on from start to finish.
• She only understood Half of the instructions, leading to some confusion. Trying to understand something if you can only see one Half of it can be tricky! If only she would take the time to ask for clarification, but she was too nervous. It proved to be a significant problem as time passed and the confusion compounded!
