Litigants are the parties involved in a lawsuit or legal case. They are the individuals, groups, or entities that are actively pursuing or defending a claim in a court of law. Their role is to present evidence, arguments, and legal interpretations to a judge or jury in an effort to achieve a favorable outcome in the dispute. They can be plaintiffs initiating legal action, defendants responding to claims, or sometimes third parties with an interest in the case's outcome. Litigation is the legal process they engage in.
