Mercury

Mercury holds a multifaceted meaning, primarily referring to the smallest planet in our solar system and the innermost one relative to the Sun. Named after the Roman messenger god, it also denotes a silvery, heavy, and highly toxic metallic element (Hg), liquid at room temperature, and used historically in thermometers, barometers, and various industrial applications. Metaphorically, 'mercury' can describe a person with a swift and volatile temperament, reflecting the quicksilver-like nature of the element and the rapid movements of the planet. In alchemy, mercury was considered one of the three essential principles of all metals.
