Milfoil

Milfoil, scientifically classified as *Myriophyllum*, is a genus of aquatic or semi-aquatic flowering plants, often characterized by their finely divided, feathery leaves that resemble a thousand (mille) leaves (foil). These plants thrive in a variety of aquatic environments, including lakes, ponds, slow-moving streams, and wetlands. milfoil plays a crucial role in aquatic ecosystems, offering habitat and food sources for various organisms while also contributing to water oxygenation. The dense growth of some milfoil species can, however, lead to problems like shading of native plants or the accumulation of dead plant matter, negatively impacting the aquatic ecosystem.
