Monergism

Monergism is a theological doctrine, primarily within Protestant Christianity, that asserts God is the sole agent in salvation. It emphasizes God's initiative and decisive action in bringing about a person's regeneration and faith, without any essential cooperation or contribution from the individual. This perspective contrasts with synergism, which posits a cooperative role for humanity in the salvation process. Monergism underscores God's sovereignty and grace, viewing human will as inherently unable to initiate faith due to the effects of sin.
