Nematode

A nematode is a worm belonging to the phylum Nematoda. These unsegmented, cylindrical worms are also known as roundworms. They are incredibly diverse and found in nearly every environment on Earth, from the deep sea to the Arctic, in both aquatic and terrestrial habitats. Nematodes range greatly in size, with some microscopic and others reaching several meters in length. Many are free-living, playing a crucial role in soil ecosystems, while others are parasites of plants and animals, causing significant damage to agriculture and human/animal health. Their simple body structure, consisting primarily of a body cavity, alimentary canal, and reproductive organs, allows them to thrive in a variety of ecological niches.
