It indicates the complete absence of effect or validity. Essentially, a 'nulo' action, contract, or argument is considered as if it never existed. This term emphasizes a fundamental deficiency rendering something entirely without consequence or legitimacy, emphasizing that the matter is considered as not being established.

Nulo meaning with examples

• The judge declared the contract nulo due to the fraudulent misrepresentation of crucial details. Both parties had misrepresented the conditions, rendering the agreement invalid from its inception. As such, they are not bound by any of its terms. No legal action could be sought for any part of that agreement as it was deemed without validity.
• The company's attempt to copyright the common phrase was deemed nulo, as it lacked the necessary originality. As a common expression it fell under the public domain. Therefore, the company was unable to stop anyone else from using the phrase as it was seen to be in the public interest for common language.
• The vote was declared nulo because of widespread voter fraud and irregularities observed throughout the voting. Officials discovered many invalid ballots. Thus, the entire election result was disregarded, and a re-vote was scheduled to ensure a fair and accurate representation.
• The treaty was considered nulo by one of the involved nations, as they argued that the signing was conducted under duress. They claimed that fear and coercion invalidated their consent. Therefore, the terms set out within it could not be acted upon until proper measures were implemented.
• Because of the obvious error of the technical specifications of the product the warranty became nulo. As it was advertised for one thing, then turned out to be another, it became invalid. The customer therefore was issued a full refund as the product, with the said specifications, could not perform the required tasks.
