Overexploitation refers to the unsustainable harvesting or use of a natural resource, such as a plant, animal population, or mineral deposit, to the point where its rate of extraction exceeds its ability to replenish itself. This often leads to population decline, ecosystem disruption, and ultimately, the depletion or extinction of the resource.
