Palisado

A palisade, in architecture and military strategy, is a defensive barrier consisting of a fence of stakes or posts, typically pointed, driven into the ground. These structures were primarily used for fortification, surrounding settlements, camps, or forts to protect against enemy attacks, wildlife, or to define boundaries. Palisados could range in height and be constructed from various materials like timber or sharpened bamboo. Their effectiveness depended on their height, the sharpness of the stakes, and the solidity of their construction and often used in defensive fortifications during the ancient and medieval times.
