A segment of time defined by certain recurring characteristics; a portion of time marked by distinct events; a cycle of time. Often refers to specific lengths of time used for academic study or sporting events. It can also relate to a woman's menstruation cycle, or to the stage in the development of life or of the universe. Finally, it is the end punctuation mark (.).
