Pitcher
A pitcher is a player in the sport of baseball whose primary role is to throw the baseball from the pitcher's mound toward the batter. They attempt to prevent the opposing team from scoring runs by throwing the ball in a way that the batter either misses or hits it weakly, resulting in an out. Pitchers employ various throwing styles and techniques to control the ball's speed, movement, and location, which are also used to change the timing of the batter.
Their other role is to be a fielder. In the field, pitchers must cover first base during ground balls to the right side of the infield, back up plays, and field their position during bunts or balls that get by the infield.
