Polyp

A polyp is a growth of tissue that arises from a mucous membrane. These growths can occur in various parts of the body, most commonly in the colon, nose, and uterus. Polyps can range in size and shape, from small and flat to large and mushroom-shaped. While some polyps are benign (non-cancerous), others can be precancerous or cancerous, making regular screening and removal important. Their formation can be influenced by genetic predisposition, lifestyle factors, and environmental exposures.
