The prepupa is a transitional, non-feeding stage in the life cycle of some insects, particularly those undergoing complete metamorphosis (holometabolous insects). It occurs between the larval stage and the pupal stage. During this time, the larva ceases feeding, often becomes less active, and undergoes significant internal physiological changes, preparing it for pupation.
