Prosimii

Prosimii (singular: prosimian) is an outdated taxonomic grouping of primates that includes the strepsirrhines (lemurs, lorises, and galagos) and the tarsiers. This classification is no longer considered scientifically accurate as it has been proven to be paraphyletic, meaning it doesn't include all descendants of a common ancestor. While no longer a valid scientific classification, the term persists in popular usage to distinguish these primates from the anthropoids (monkeys, apes, and humans).
