Scolopendrid
A scolopendrid is a centipede belonging to the order Scolopendromorpha. These arthropods are characterized by their flattened, elongated bodies, numerous leg-bearing segments (typically 21-23 pairs), and powerful, venomous forcipules (modified legs used for injecting venom). Scolopendrids are predominantly nocturnal predators, inhabiting diverse environments ranging from tropical forests to deserts. They are carnivorous, feeding on insects, worms, and occasionally small vertebrates. Their bite can be painful to humans but is rarely life-threatening.
