Self-righteousness is a feeling of moral superiority derived from a belief in one's own righteousness. This can manifest as a judgmental stance, a tendency to preach or lecture, and a lack of empathy or understanding for alternative perspectives. Self-righteous individuals often believe they are morally superior and may be quick to criticize or condemn others, sometimes ignoring their own flaws or imperfections. This behavior often stems from a need for validation and a desire to feel in control and secure in one's beliefs and choices. It can be a barrier to meaningful relationships and obstruct intellectual growth and social progress by stifling open dialogue and the exploration of different viewpoints.
