Shotgun

A shotgun is a firearm that is typically designed to be fired from the shoulder, using the energy of a propellant charge to discharge numerous small spherical pellets called shot, or sometimes a single solid projectile called a slug. It is generally a smoothbore weapon, although rifled barrels exist. Shotguns are used for a variety of purposes, including hunting, sport shooting (such as skeet or trap), and self-defense. Their effective range tends to be relatively short compared to rifles, making them suitable for close-quarters engagements.
