Squashiness refers to the physical characteristic of being soft, yielding, and easily compressed, typically due to a high water content or a lack of rigid structure. It describes the texture of something that gives way readily under pressure, leaving a dent or deformation. This quality is often associated with objects or substances that are not firm or solid, but rather have a malleable or pliable nature. The degree of squashiness can vary greatly, ranging from a slight give to a complete collapse under minimal force. It is a tactile sensation often perceived through touch and can be indicative of freshness, ripeness (in the case of fruits), or decay. The term emphasizes the ease with which an object can be flattened or deformed, lacking the firmness or rigidity of its opposite.
