Subfloor

The subfloor is a structural layer installed directly onto the joists or supporting structure of a building, serving as the foundational base for the finished flooring. Typically constructed of plywood, oriented strand board (OSB), or concrete, it provides a stable, level, and durable surface to which the final flooring material – such as hardwood, tile, or carpet – can be attached.
