Switchboard

A switchboard is a central component in a telecommunications system, especially one used for manually connecting telephone calls. It consists of a panel with numerous jacks, plugs, and switches, which operators use to route incoming calls to the desired extensions or outgoing lines. Originally, switchboards were entirely manual, relying on human operators to physically connect calls. Over time, they evolved to include automated and digital systems. Functionally, a switchboard acts as a crucial hub, managing and distributing communication within an organization or network.
