Theurgy

Theurgy (Ancient Greek: θεουργία, *theourgía*, literally 'god-work' or 'divine-work') is a practice of rituals believed to evoke the action or interaction of one or more divinities, or, more broadly, the goal of achieving *henosis* (union) with the divine, or the perfection of humankind through various rituals, rites, and techniques. Rooted in Neoplatonism and later adopted by various esoteric traditions, theurgy often involves invocations, hymns, sacrifices, and the manipulation of symbols and elements. Its primary aim differs from simple prayer; it seeks active, often physical, alteration of the divine and human realms, aiming for a mystical experience of enlightenment or direct interaction with deities.
