Three-pointer

In basketball, a 'three-pointer' (also known as a 'three-point shot' or a 'trey') is a field goal that is worth three points. This shot is awarded when a player successfully shoots the ball from beyond the three-point line, a designated arc encircling the basket. The distance to the basket from the three-point line varies depending on the league and level of play, but it generally ranges from around 22 feet (6.7 meters) at the corners to approximately 23.75 feet (7.24 meters) at the top of the arc. This shot type requires greater skill and accuracy, but provides a greater reward for a successful attempt, significantly impacting scoring and game strategy. It is also seen as a very exciting play.
