Two-sex

Referring to a biological or social system, belief, or understanding that categorizes living beings, particularly animals and humans, into two distinct and complementary sexes: typically male and female. This binary system often influences views on gender roles, reproductive biology, social structures, and cultural norms. It generally emphasizes the biological differences between the sexes, particularly in reproductive organs and secondary sexual characteristics. This framework is pervasive in many societies and has shaped historical perspectives and legal frameworks worldwide, however is at odds with the scientific understanding of diverse gender identities.

Two-sex meaning with examples
