Zoisite is a calcium aluminum hydroxyl sorosilicate mineral belonging to the epidote group. It is often found as prismatic, orthorhombic crystals and can exhibit a wide range of colors, from gray and green to brown, pink, and, most famously, blue in the form of Tanzanite. zoisite is typically found in metamorphic rocks and is prized as a gemstone, particularly the blue variety which is pleochroic, appearing different colors depending on the viewing angle. Its hardness of 6.5 on the Mohs scale and moderate toughness make it relatively durable for jewelry. The mineral's composition includes calcium, aluminum, silicon, oxygen, and hydroxyl groups.
