Necrotic

Necrotic describes the condition of tissue or cells undergoing death or decay, often as a result of injury, disease, or a lack of blood supply. It's a localized form of cell death, different from apoptosis (programmed cell death). The process involves cellular breakdown, enzymatic digestion, and an inflammatory response from the surrounding healthy tissues. Necrosis is a pathological condition, and identifying its cause is crucial for proper treatment. It presents with visible changes like discoloration and textural changes.

Necrotic meaning with examples

• The untreated wound on his leg quickly became necrotic, exhibiting a foul odor and a dark, leathery appearance. This was caused by a severe bacterial infection that compromised the tissue's ability to function.
