Objectification is the act of treating a person (often a woman) as an object or thing, disregarding their individuality, feelings, and dignity. It involves reducing a person to their physical appearance, sexual function, or usefulness to others, stripping them of their agency and complex identity. This process can manifest in various forms, from media representations and advertising to interpersonal interactions, perpetuating dehumanization and power imbalances. It is a form of social dehumanization and may cause mental harm to those objectified.
