Tolerogen
A tolerogen is a substance, typically an antigen, that induces immunological tolerance rather than an immune response. Unlike immunogens, which stimulate the immune system to generate an immune response resulting in the production of antibodies or activated immune cells, tolerogens promote immune system unresponsiveness. This unresponsiveness can be either systemic or localized, and it can involve various mechanisms such as clonal deletion of reactive immune cells, functional inactivation (anergy), or the active suppression of immune responses by regulatory cells.
