Coagulum

A coagulum is a semi-solid or solid mass formed by the coagulation of a liquid, especially blood or a protein-containing substance. This process, known as coagulation or clotting, results from the conversion of a liquid or a sol into a gel-like or solid state, typically through the action of a clotting agent, or chemical process. The resulting coagulum, also sometimes referred to as a clot, is formed when soluble proteins aggregate and form an insoluble network, trapping other substances. The consistency can vary from soft and jelly-like to firm and rubbery, depending on the nature of the substance and the factors promoting coagulation.
